Concrete is a great option for driveways. Because concrete is incredibly durable and can hold an immense amount of weight, it makes for excellent driveway material. Concrete is relatively cost-effective, easy to install and holds up well under most weather conditions. If you are looking to have a brand new driveway installed, concrete is an excellent choice for you. Concrete fits any style of house and can be enhanced further with stamping, staining or coloring. The next time you are considering driveway installation, give us a call and let us talk you through some excellent concrete options.
Installation for a concrete driveway is relatively easy and quick. The first step, and the most difficult, is to properly grade the driveway. Driveways should always be dug to slope away from the house. This helps with drainage; making sure that water doesn’t flow in to your home’s foundation. Once grading is done, and the surface is leveled out, the next step is to frame out the driveway. Once framed out, concrete is mixed and poured in to place. Then, we level out the concrete and, should you want it stamped, we go through the stamping process, before letting it set to dry and harden.
Concrete is decently maintenance free, but there will come some times when maintenance does need to be performed. This usually comes in the form of cleaning. Cleaning, if done regularly, can be as simple as using a hose to spray down the concrete, pushing the dirt and grime off of it. Sweeping can also get any sort of growths off of your concrete. Lastly, concrete should be checked regularly for cracks forming. If cracks are present, we can come out and fill them, and bond your concrete back together; ensuring that no bigger cracks form.
If you have had your concrete for several years, there will, no doubt, come a time when your concrete needs to be re-paved. This process is not all that hard and, if your under layer is in good shape, is a quick process. In most cases, we can pour a new layer of concrete directly on top of the old layer. However, there may be some cases where, if your original concrete is in really poor shape, we may need to jackhammer it out, completely, before pouring a new concrete driveway.
The benefits of concrete are numerous and plenty. Concrete has amazing weight distribution properties, which means that it can hold large vehicles with no problem. Concrete is also very good at draining off excess water. Concrete is also sturdy and does very well holding against intense sunlight, heat, wind and all manner of storms. Lastly, concrete is mildly flexible; being able to push up, or sink slightly, without cracking or breaking. Concrete is also very cost effective and is a great option for small, or large, budgets. If you are looking for a great driveway material, look no further than concrete.
